South SEED – LPDH College (SSLC), marked its sixth anniversary last February 6-11, 2017 participated in by the Founders, Board Members, past and present Officers, Faculty, non-teaching Staff, Alumni, Students and all the others who have been part of the continuing legacy of the institution. SSLC is a partnership between Southville International School and Colleges and Pas Piñas Doctors Hospital (LPDH).
The weeklong activities started with an Opening Program on February 6 and culminated with convocation on February 10 in which the Founders were honored with plaques. They received gifts for SSLC from the alumni, the hospital-sponsored students, scholars led by the GLT academic scholars, officers, faculty and non-teaching staff.
The opening program provided a venue for the students to renew their loyalty pledge and boost their SSLC spirit through cheers and presentations per program. Engr. Patrick Funtila, SSLC Board member from LPDH and Dr. Marl V. Ferenal, SSLC President and Board member inspired the students with their speeches.
The founders honored were Dr. Genevieve Ledesma Tan and Dr. Marl V. Ferenal from Southville International School and Colleges (SISC) and Engr. Geronimo David and Mr. Danilo Sevilla from Las Piñas Doctors Hospital (LPDH). Dr. Ferenal capped his response with a song – “This is the moment” while Mr. Sevilla touched the hearts of the students with his story – how GRIT made him to where he is today. Dr. Tan and Engr. David were not able to attend the activity due to some prior engagements that they could not defer. All Board members, past and present, and Ms. Suzette Encarnacion, the first Dean of Med Tech, were presented with certificates of appreciation. The other former Deans, faculty members and non-teaching staff were also invited. Among the activities that the students and faculty prepared were the bloodletting, intramurals, community outreach, and the amazing race. During the culminating program, the students prepared a foodfest which all the attendees enjoyed.
Having been proven as number one among the allied health colleges at NCR south based on the school’s performance in the board exams, SSLC takes extra measures in preparing its students for the incoming board examination on February 26 and 27, March 9 & 10, July 30 & 31 of Med Tech, Pharma, and Rad Tech respectively.
