Biography

Giovanni De Jesus Milanez is a registered medical technologist in the Philippines and holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Science degree. He is the current Dean of the Department of Medical Technology of South Seed LPDH College. He has twelve years of experience teaching medical technology subjects, including microbiology, parasitology, immunology, clinical microscopy, and clinical chemistry. He took his bachelor’s degree in medical technology at Centro Escolar University in 2001 and his master’s degree in medical technology at the University of Santo Tomas in 2016, where he defended his thesis on the isolation of free-living amoebae in Lake Taal with a grade of benemeritus. He received the Outstanding International Scholarship grant from Walailak University, Thailand, where he got his doctoral degree in Biomedical Science. He received the Crisanto Almario Memorial Award for research in 2022 from the Philippine Association of Medical Technologists, Inc. His published works include a laboratory manual in parasitology entitled Laboratory Manual in Medical Parasitology with Molecular Techniques and a book entitled Philippine Medical Technology Laws and Bioethics, along with 57 scientific publications with over 900 citations and two book chapters in international refereed/ISI/Scopus journals, which focuses on protozoan studies. He is a member/consultant for research in the Tondo Medical Center Multisector Governance Council, a member of the International Water Association, and a regular member of the National Research Council. He is a peer reviewer of ISI journals such as Parasitology Research (Springer), Water and Health, Scientific Reports, Parasite and Vectors, and Nusantara Bioscience.
