South SEED-LPDH College proudly features Mark Angel Magracia, a distinguished
alumnus from the pioneer BS Medical Laboratory Science class of 2015, whose career has
made a global mark in transfusion medicine, laboratory leadership, and public health.
After receiving the first ever and only recipient of the Excellence in Immunohematology
Award, Mark began his journey as a lecturer at SSLC, helping shape the college’s young
MLS program. From 2015 to 2021, he built a progressive clinical career in the Philippines—
rising from staff medical technologist, Blood Bank Supervisor to Laboratory Manager, with
deep focus on immunohematology and blood bank operations.
In 2020, Mark led the setup and management of one of the Philippines’ largest contactless
COVID-19 drive-thru testing labs. His leadership in pandemic response earned him the
“Excellence in Service Award” from the Philippine government for his national public
health contribution.
Now based in the U.S., Mark serves as the Blood Bank Technical Specialist for Legacy
Health System in Oregon, overseeing immunohematology protocols across multiple
hospitals in the Pacific Northwest. His SBB(ASCPi) certification—held by only a few
Filipinos worldwide—distinguishes him as a leader in complex serologic testing and
transfusion safety.
He is the pioneer of the PBCC National Blood Bank Quiz Show started in 2024, a
landmark educational platform for Filipino blood bankers. His acclaimed scientific
presentation on “Pre-transfusion Challenges of Daratumumab Interference &
Technical Resolution” at the PBCC National Convention has led to ongoing invitations
to lecture at top universities in the Philippines and U.S., where he shares expertise in
medical laboratory science, particularly immunohematology and transfusion safety.
Mark currently serves as a Junior Member of the AABB Education Accreditation
Advisory Committee and as a PAMET-USA Scientific Ad Hoc Expert committee
member, where he designs and delivers continuing education webinars, technical talks,
and mentorship programs—supporting career advancement for Filipino and Filipino-
American laboratory professionals.
Recently, a renowned global diagnostics company reached out to Mark regarding a
potential Key Opinion Leader (KOL) collaboration—reflecting his growing international
influence in blood bank diagnostics and education.
“My journey started at South SEED-LPDH College—not only as a student, but as
someone trusted to teach, grow, and lead. From lecturing in our classrooms and now
being invited by numerous review centers and universities across the Philippines, to
managing pandemic testing labs and overseeing transfusion safety across a major
U.S. health system—SSLC has always been at the core of who I am. This institution
didn’t just prepare me academically—it gave me a purpose. It truly is a home of
Laboratory Science victors, and I’m honored to be one of them.”
