Welcome Letter from the SSLC President
My dear students and parents,
As President of South SEED-LPDH College, it is my pleasure to welcome all of you to the first semester of Academic Year 2020-2021.
This academic year marks another milestone for South SEED-LPDH College. It is our 10th year! It is another year to celebrate. COVID19 will not deter us to achieve our goals! We have already made a mark in the Commission on Higher Education for having excellent standing in the Board exams. The College of Pharmacy marked a 100% passing in the Licensure Board Exams in the latest Licensure Examination and we have maintained our high passing marks in Med Tech and Rad Tech. It is a pity that COVID19 has put the Philippines Education into almost a standstill. However, while other universities and colleges are still waiting for the IATF to allow schools to conduct face-to-face classes, SSLC started first semester classes on July 6, 2020. While we are doing all lectures for the Prelim and perhaps part of the midterm, half of the semester will be devoted to laboratory experiments in the labs for the major subjects with wet laboratory components.
We would like to assure all the parents and the students that SSLC is implementing all the necessary precautions to ensure the health safety of the students. We have the automatic thermal scanner and the COVID disclosure procedures.
We do disinfecting of the premises every Sunday. Everyone will be required to wear face masks during the face-to-face classes. Social distancing will be implemented strictly.
It is with gratitude to the Almighty that all the SSLC students and their family have been spared from the COVID19.
Yes, it is quite heart-warming that despite the hardships that everyone is facing due to the Pandemic, SSLC has continued to operate – all because of the overwhelming support, cooperation, and understanding of the parents and the students. This is not to discount the 100% support of the faculty and staff, the SSLC Board, the SSLC officers, and the financial and administrative support of Southville International School and Colleges.
It would not have been possible to operate a college with three programs through online classes without the backing of the Learning Management System (LMS) of Southville International School and Colleges with only 164 students enrolled, with only 129 students who are full paying. It is a blessing that SSLC is a member of the Southville Global Education Network (SGEN) so we are allowed the use of the various licensed Technology platforms that enable us to conduct online classes. I know that we could not afford the expensive licenses and the experts that man the LMS. We are so blessed that we have an expert on technology, Mr. Rex Wallen Tan, our very own Southville High School alumnus who graduated from Imperial College, one of the top universities in the world. Thanks, too for the unceasing support of Mr. Mark Salibio, Head of the MIS, who takes care of our immediate technology needs.
I hope to see all of you, my dear students on campus very soon. Yes, I miss your happy voices and sounds of your happy laughter along the corridors, your energetic participation in the activities. We miss all of you.
We welcome all of you to Academic Year 2020-2021. We can do it!
